Flying to Canberra every week usually the 07h30 flight from Sydney to Canberra airport. The flight is a 50 minute flight either on a 737 or Dash 8 Turbo Prop. We are all staying - most of the team fly in, at the Central Motel and Apartments in Queanbeyan which is located in NSW and not the ACT. In other words we have to cross the border every day into the ACT.
Photograph of the motel at Queanbeyan. Comfortable and cheaper than Canberra, when hotel rooms can reach $750 per night. The kitchen makes a great and reasonably priced breakfast.
Entrance to the project office - Fairbourne office park - situated opposite the airport.

Heatwave has abated, but it is still warm and humid. Cut the grass both front and back this morning.
On Wednesday, had lunch at the Summit Restaurant situated on the 48th floor of the Australia Plaza building on George Street. The Summit is a revolving restaurant, and takes 1 hour to complete a full 360. Great views of Sydney and surrounds. Food is on the expensive side +/- $70 per head - starters and main excluding desert and drinks.
Flew to Canberra on Thursday morning, instead of staying at the usual hotels in Canberra, I stayed at a Motel in Queanbeyan. Queanbeyan is a small country town South East of Canberra. The projects offices are located in an office park close to the Canberra airport. Canberra, humidity levels are lower than Sydney making higher temperatures more bearable.
Thursday, evening went out with the project team to Walsh's in Queanbeyan, and had Tasmanian Wallaby shanks for dinner. The meat is a bit stringy and not as fatty as lamb. Back there next week

The heatwave continues, 6th day. Temperature hit 42C today in Sydney. At 19h50 the temperature was 37.3C. Rain and cooler weather is on its way, thanks to trough and cyclone Yasi. Yasi is now a low pressure over central Australia. There is a fire ban in place - no barbies unless electric or gas, meaning the Weber Kettle is out of commission.
If you get caught lighting a fire - the fine is AUD 5,500 and/or 12 months in jail.
